Most of my patients come into my office in Staten Island, New York because they have a problem.  Most are in pain.  Some severe pain.  But that does not have to be the case for you.

Get rid of the processed foods--that's anything containing hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup.  Eat a big salad every day.  Cut down on your meat and dairy and increase your fresh vegetables and fruit.  A Green Smoothie is a great way to start each day.

ANTI-AGING SECRET TWO.  Supplement your diet for added insurance.

I have written often about the need for Supplementation.  Please check my Vitamin Store for some great deals for your supplement needs.  The big three supplements that I would recommend for most people are:  a high quality Multi-Vitamin, a Vitamin D and an Omega-3.

ANTI-AGING SECRET THREE.  Move your body.

You need to move--as in not sitting at your desk or your sofa.  Get out and walk.  And you need to be consistent--do it every day.  Just 30 minutes a day of exercise can greatly improve your health.  Be sure add some stretching and some resistance to your routine--maybe a few pushups and squats.

ANTI-AGING SECRET FOUR.  Ahhh! The Miracle of Good Posture.

I have written previously about how to achieve Good Posture.  Attaining Good Posture can be like downing the magic potion of pain cure.  Become aware of how you stand, sit, walk, work and sleep.

ANTI-AGING SECRET FIVE.  Lose the extra weight.

Excess weight puts you at much greater risk of pain because of the strain it places on your joints and your body’s organs. ANTI-AGING SECRET SIX.  Kick the bad habits.

Quitting smoking, alchohol and drugs is a no brainer.  Find something else to do for "fun."  Hiding from life challenges by self-medicating is not the answer.  Get rid of the bad stuff and say goodbye to your pain.

ANTI-AGING SECRET SEVEN.  Stop the toxins.

Protect yourself from harmful chemicals. Your home and workplace is probably full of toxic fumes and liquids.  We recently discussed with Dr. Earl Mindell on how to remove the toxins from your life.

ANTI-AGING SECRET EIGHT.  Sleep well, my friend.

I think you need at least eight hours of sleep every single night.  If you don't get it, you are asking for trouble somewhere down your lifetime health highway.

ANTI-AGING SECRET NINE.  Respect the mighty sun.

You need Vitamin D to be healthy.  Enjoy the sun but also respect it.  Don't burn yourself if you need to be out in the sun for lengthy periods.  Wear protective clothing and wide-brimmed hats.  Note that most sunscreen lotions on the market may contain toxic substances, so use them sparingly or not at all.

ANTI-AGING SECRET TEN.  How important are your genes?

It is believed that you may inherit certain propensities for some diseases.  So it makes sense to be aware of your family's medical history.  For every new patient in my office on Staten Island, it is standard policy to get a detailed family and personal health history.  However, the good news is it is now believed the environment in which you place your body--note all of the suggestions above--has tremendous power in overriding most health challenges.  In short, there is no way around the fact that a healthy lifestyle rules.
